A lovely countryside apartment on the upper level of a reformed and converted "Masia"
- traditional huge Catalan country barn type house.

A country studio apartment is open for all seasons and for all reasons, this is ideal for couples of all ages and only up one steady flight of stairs. The open plan space has been designed to give you the ultimate place to relax, unwind and enjoy each others' company.

The high, apex wooden ceilings creates an expanse in the modern design, with beautifully Spanish tiled floors coupled with uncluttered and well arranged modern furniture, all gives rise to a sense of coolness in summer. The same aspects are complimented with the newly installed wood burner fire, creating a cozy warmth and comfort on cool nights.

You step out onto a large, private terrace which takes in sweeping views of the well maintained park like orchards of the "finca" and the panoramic mountain ranges of the "El Ports" seem to embrace you.

A peaceful area to be alone to breakfast, to read and sunbathe, to sip sundowners and feel the stress ebb away as you are absorbed in the kaleidoscope of wonderful sunsets.

During the summer months Hazel has a large, well-tended vegetable garden where seasonal pickings are purchasable. Nothing nicer than freshly picked home-grown veggies and herbs to serve up in a newly fitted kitchen with fridge, gas hob, microwave and electric grill, or on yoru own BBQ outside on your private terrace.

The shower room is modern with a large installed electric immersion heater, so loads of hot water to revitalize yourselves from the horse riding or mountain biking trails across the countryside. Washing machine utilities are available.

Use the outdoor kitchen with charcoal or wood barbecue, or gas grill for paelas. These facilities be completed for spring 2008.

There are lovely country lanes for early morning joggers and peaceful countryside to go out for long, gentle strolls and bird watching, towards the mountains, maybe pass a local flock grazing on wild rosemary or low olive branches on the way.

Then turn back towards home to have a cool soak in the outdoor dip pool in the walled courtyard (to stay off those mountain breezes), breathe in the wonderful scent of herbs and recharge your batteries.

A "Welcome Pack" can be arranged for you. If you are arriving late on a Sunday or fiesta night, Hazel will kindly cook you an evening meal which you can share with them. Otherwise, everything is self-catering. Stuart and Hazel live in the downstairs apartment but they do not intrude.

If you canīt be away from the "office or your friends" Internet access is available. The television is English digital, with a wide choice of DVDīs for viewing. Various games, cards, kites, dart board, giant Jenga, 9 in skittles, mountain bike (2 new men's + 2 new ladies) and outdoor pursuits are readily available.

The Finca Avellana owners will willingly take you on personal guided tours of various wine "bodigas",where you will be tempted to take a choice bottle of wine home with you. ( They introduced me to a very good Spanish white wine, called "Avus"! ) Likewise, horse riding can be arranged at nearby stable, as well as bird watching and guided walks.

Winter view.. on the coldest of days only the tops of the mountains around get a dusting of snow! -->

Though this is countryside, it is only a few minutes drive off the main road C12, near Aldover and 10 minutes from Tortosaīs medieval town along the River Ebro. Plenty of supermarkets, quaint shops and modernized little bistro bars are tucked away in Remolins with a choice of restaurants.

The Catalans love their culture, theatre, cinema, music and arts and play an important part in their daily lives and fiestas, welcoming all tourists to join in.

This is an amazing province where one moment you could be witnessing the return or the migrating of rare birds; then next minute wandering along quiet drives up into the mountains after sampling the wines of the valleys. Then enjoy a sombre siesta in a deckchair on a sandy beach, before stretching your legs around Roman ruins, and polishing off the evening with provincial or seafood cuisine.

Whether you want to stay for a couple nights, midweek break, long weekend, a week or two or three, Hazel and Stuart will give you a very warm welcome and advise you on local or provincial events
